Money can never guarantee that you’ll have a long and happy life. It can, however, help you work toward a healthy and fit body.
While wellness is not an exclusive privilege of the rich, it’s something that is slowly redefining luxury living.
Nowadays, many high-end residences around the world are using their amenities to promote wellness. Beyond lavish features and attractive interiors, it appears that the wealthy are shifting their focus to living the best life in terms of health.
From sports simulators to infrared saunas, wellness is now becoming the trend in luxury homes and condominiums. Below are some of the latest developments around the world to feature amenities focusing on improving the health of the rich.
(Brooklyn, New York)
Situated in 623 Fifth Avenue, Brooklyn, Arbor Eighteen offers 73 residential units with price tags that can go beyond $2 million (about P106 million). The residences were designed by interior designer Paris Forino and landscape architect Steven Yavanian, both locals to the city.
Of its total of 11 stories, three are devoted to wellness amenities. The first floor features an arboretum that serves as a centerpiece courtyard. The area is inspired by Prospect Park which stands near the building. Japanese maple trees, a Zen garden, and sculptural boulders provide a tranquil and aesthetic view to the indoor amenities that are adjacent to the area. At the top of the building, a grove of birch trees serve as a site of outdoor dining areas.
The top level features panoramic views of New York’s beloved sights, which include the Statue of Liberty and the New York Harbor. The rooftop encourages guests to socialize and relax outdoors in style.
Lastly, the Sanctuary level offers an indoor fitness center that is technological in approach. A yoga studio, meditation room, and well-equipped gym can be exclusively accessed by residents to keep in shape.
The most unique feature of the level, however, would be its infrared sauna. Designed to create heat that is as warm as natural sunlight, the sauna comes in handy during the rough winter months of New York. In addition, the therapeutic room has been proven to alleviate depression, reduce food cravings and improve the cardiovascular system.
One Hundred Barclay
Situated in the Tribeca district of New York City, One Hundred Barclay stands close to the Hudson River. The building prides itself for its spacious, loft-type units and pet-friendly spaces. Beyond these features, however, One Hundred Barclay offers some of the most comprehensive wellness facilities the world has ever seen.
The fitness center and spa offers various activities to recharge and relax residents. An 82-foot indoor pool offers two straight lanes to encourage users to swim for exercise. A separate wading pool for children is also provided to serve as a venue for playtime.
For those more interested in working out with weights, the fitness center is designed by the Wright Fit, a wellness company, to help maximize exercise sessions. The area features the best weight training and cardio equipment. For yoga and Pilates enthusiasts, a private studio focused on gyrotonic training is offered by the condominium.
After work-out, residents can choose to relax in the steam room, sauna or spa. Should users need assistance, trained staff such as personal trainers, nutritionists, private chefs, and masseuses are available. Integrating residences with a sports and health club, One Hundred Barclay helps its tenants lead the healthiest life money can buy.

Catering to only 39 condominium units, Villa Valencia aims to the most affluent residents of sunny South Florida. Despite having few units, the buildings don’t skimp on amenities, offering both smart home systems and posh fitness facilities.
Each home is controlled by technology to ensure green living. Darwin, a software aimed at promoting wellness, is installed to constantly monitor air quality, lighting, temperature and acoustics. The sensor provides information on your immediate environment. Darwin can likewise provide the level of volatile organic compounds inside your home and tell you what’s in your drinking water.
Outside, Villa Valencia features exclusive amenities which are at par with the most luxurious hotels. A 78-foot pool features a lap lane and a waterfall. The spa and wellness center offers a treatment room, steam room, gender-specific saunas, and hydrotherapy plunge pools. A fitness facility also provides a yoga, Pilates and a weights area.
In addition, the condominium offers an entertainment space with a golf simulator. The simulator allows you to play different holes without having to bask in the hot sun. Not living in one, however, doesn’t mean that you can’t pursue the same goals.
