WASHINGTON, Feb 13 (Reuters) – The head of the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency, Brock Long, said he would resign on Wednesday, after overseeing the U.S. government’s response to hundreds of hurricanes, wildfires and other natural disasters.

Long took over the agency in June 2017, just months before Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria devastated Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico and wildfires ravaged California.

The agency worked on more than 220 declared disasters during his tenure, he said in a statement. (Reporting by Andy Sullivan; editing by Jonathan Oatis)
